For that, just practice a lot doing a variety of impressions and familiarise yourself with your voice. And get a good mic, too. Find RicePirate on Youtube; he uploaded a video with tips on recording.

None of the ones I've been in were top tier. There are many aspects of projects; you can animate, voice act, write, etc. Just go to the forum and pick something you can do.
